Giving unnecessary fillip
This is in response to Yadav Khanals letter
titled Handle with care published on January 20, TKP.First of all, I would
like to congratulate Khanal for defending Asam Saboor, both in content and form. But I
believe his statement has failed to give a healthy justification. He should not encourage
anti-diplomatic activities in the country by condemning the legitimate minimum diplomatic
action of our government. Khanal is not only doing disservice to the nation but also
giving fillip to anti-diplomatic activities carried out in our soil against a country with
whom we have to maintain friendly relations (whether some persons like Khanal, like it or
not) due to geographical proximity. Does Khanal really want to encourage non-diplomatic
activities by advising our foreign office? It is savagery to indulge in
circulation of counterfeit currency of a third country with which the Nepalese economy is
deeply entrenched.
Khanal has also
mentioned, Pakistan needs its ties with Nepal only marginally. It is we who are in
need of ties. In fact, Khanal has not given a single reason for this. Current
economic, commercial and cultural relations suggest that Nepal is not at all affected even
if Pakistan closes its Embassy in Kathmandu. But I am sure, it will never do so.
