Six
die in accidental blast

KATHMANDU,
Jan 29 - Six people, five of them minors, were killed while two others
were injured today in Dhading when a bomb possibly left behind by
Royal Nepal Army went off, police said.
The
bomb went off when the six were trying to hack open the club-sized
object with an axe at Kalleritar of Kalleri VDC, about 65 kilometres
west of here, Saturday evening, said Deputy Superintendent of Police
Madhav Bahadur Thapa at the Kathmandu District Police Office.
Those
killed have been identified as Santosh Karki, 20, Sunil Karki, 13,
Kalyan Karki, 11, Narayan Timilsina, 14, Krishna Subedi, 14, and Hari
Timilsina, 11.
Police
sources added, Sundar Karki, 15, and Dina Karki, 7, who were seriously
injured, have been rushed to Kathmandu for medical treatment. The
incident occurred at around 5 pm.
Eyewitnesses
said, in what may be said to be a club-sized bomb was found by one of
the children at Ratodada Hill where he had gone to collect firewood
late in the afternoon.
The
hill is located in Gowanpani VDC which is connected with the Army’s
firing range.
The
children had converged at the house of Nawaraj Khatiwada in Kalleritar
VDC to figure out the club-like thing, eyewitnesses added.
