Preparations underway to build int'l
exhibition hall

KATHMANDU, July 8 - Federation of Nepalese
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has said that the government and the Federation
are to sign an agreement today on building an international exhibition hall for its
preliminary phase of the construction work, according to an FNCCI press release.
Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, President of FNCCI,
speaking at the executive committee meeting of the Federation here Friday said that
preparations are underway to construct the exhibition hall and an agreement to this effect
would be signed between the FNCCI and the government tomorrow.
The meeting has also decided to convene the
34th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Federation in the second week of September, 2000.
The meeting decided to nominate Sanjeev Raj Bhandari to the vacant post of associate
member as well.
Besides approving the proposal of zonal
representatives through power point, the meeting also decided to provide commodity
association membership to the Federation of Nepal Transporters Union and associate
membership to Gandaki Oil Mills Pvt Ltd, Air Ananya Pvt Ltd, Prithvi Printing Press Pvt
Ltd, Peacock Plastic Ware Pvt Ltd, Vijaya Metal Industries, Lotus Energy Pvt Ltd, Reliance
Wire Industries Pvt Ltd and Swastik Metal Industries Pvt Ltd, on the recommendation of
Membership Committee at the Federation.
Shrestha also informed that an agreement has
been signed between the FNCCI and Blue Chip International Pvt Ltd to make the activities
involved in issuing the Certificate of Origin transparent.
Second phase agreement between the FNCCI and
ILO/IPEC has been signed to make Pokhara a child labour free town, activities to set up
environment and WTO Cells in the Federation are in progress and talks have been initiated
with the concerned ministers to resolve other problems related to the business community,
President Shrestha said.

Mulmi presented the recommendation on new membership, past president and special member
Padma Jyoti highlighted on new constitution draft while Second Vice President Diwakar
Golchha presented budget for fiscal year 2000/2001, on the occasion. |
