Nepal out played by Pakistan

By a Post Reporter

KATHMANDU, July 20- Nepal's Under-17 squad, already out of the tournament and playing their last match, received another morale sapping loss as they went down to their Pakistani counterpart by a huge margin of 10 wickets in the ongoing Under-17 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament, according to internet report.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss they found life pretty uncomfortable as they soon found themselves in hot-water losing five quick wickets for hardly any runs. They were 27-5, the cream of the batting back in the pavilion. Of their top five batsmen it was only Kaniska Chaugain, batting at number three, who showed some resistance before he fell prey rather unnecessarily, due to poor communication between wickets. He was run out for 8.

Amit Shrestha then showed some resistance while making 22 runs that included two hits to the fence, consuming 56 balls. Thanks to his effort the total crossed the half century mark. Of the stipulated 45 overs, Nepal were shot out in 28.5 overs.

Speedster Najab Shah was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers claiming three wickets. He was well supported by Munir Ansari who also claimed three wickets while Zulfiqar Ali chipped in with two wickets.

Chasing a tiny target, Pakistani openers notched up the required runs in 15.1 overs. The openers Khalid Latif and Sulman Butt made 32 and 27 runs respectively. Khalid's knock was punctuated with five fours while Butt struck four fours.

Meanwhile, in another match, Bangladesh defeated Bahrain also by ten wickets. Bahrain made a paltry 52 while Bangladesh notched up the target in only six wickets.
