Why blame western media ?
This refers to the letter titled "An eye opener" in
TKP dated June 7th, by Izhar Mikrani.
It is true Islam stands for peace. But in the name of Islam,
people have killed and often screamed "Allah hu Akbar" after the deed is done.
How can you blame the western media when all they are doing is reporting what is actually
happening. From the US to the Philippines, many people who identify themselves as
"Muslims" have taken the lives of innocent people. The bombing of the World
Trade Center (US), the downing of the passenger airliner (Scotland), the hostages in
Kashmir/Philippines, marine barracks in Saudi Arabia, tourists in Egypt, Kurds killed by
Iraqis and so on are the glaring examples. Remember the Indian Airlines hijacking?
Also, let us not forget the Muslim vs Muslim killings, or
Shiite vs Sunni or Iraq vs Kuwait/Iran confrontations. Manzur Ejaz writes from Pakistan
(Himal May, 2000): "Gun-touting extremists can at any time come around the corner,
where religious sects go at each other with murderous intent." Ejaz is no western
journalist. We know all Muslims are not violent, but sadly too many are. You can’t
stop it by turning a blind eye.
