By a Post Reporter
HETAUDA, June 24 - Colgate Palmolive (Nepal) Private Limited
resumed its production from Thursday, June 22, which was greatly damaged by bomb exploded
by Maoist activists on June 15.
According to a technician at the factory, a spare machine has
been installed to resume the production.
Though production is resumed it would be 25 percent less than
the earlier production and the factory is making necessary arrangement to import another
machine to meet previous one, it is said.
However, the factory has laid off most of the employees
working on contract and police have been deployed in the factory for security reason.
At the time of exploding the bomb, Maoist activists had said
that the factory was exploiting the workers and a large number of them working on contract
were not recruited permanently though they were working for quite a long time.
A group of armed men entered the factory at 11: 30 pm
Thursday, June 15 and blasted a machine at the production plant. The machine was damaged
beyond repair by the explosion. Apart from the machine, the blast also caused a
considerable damage to another at a nearby room.
The total damage caused by the explosion is estimated at
around 80 million rupees.
Meanwhile, Hetauda Industrial District Management Limited and
Association of the Industries of Hetauda Industrial District in a joint meeting condemned
the bomb blast at Colgate Palmolive Limited and demanded the government to arrange special
security arrangement for Hetauda Industrial District.
The meting also decided to provide fuel to police vans for
night patrolling and asked the government to arrange for necessary vehicles.
Local police, administrators, industrialists, and
entrepreneurs and peoples representatives attended the meeting.
