6 goal Rajan gives RCT 2nd position

By a Post Reporter

KATHMANDU, June 25- RCT maintained their goal scoring run here today as well demolishing Jawalakhel Youth Club 8-3 to finish runner up behind Manang Marshyangdi Club. RCT went ahead of Three Star on goal difference as both the teams finished their league matches on 26 points each.

The match started interestingly as Aait Singh Tamang put RCT ahead in the sixth minute of the match. It was a well executed shot by Tamang to give his side the much needed early break. There was also some pressure on RCT as they needed to win the match to finish in the second position. However, by 23rd minute their lead was cancelled by Jawalkhel’s Sanubhai Thapa. But RCT remained calm and composed as they went ahead once again seven minutes later by a goal from Nirajan Rayamajhi.

And this was only the beginning as Rayamajhi went berserk scoring five more goals after this. He scored his second goal before breather in the 41st minute to make it 3-1.

He then toyed with the Jawalkhel defence to score four more goals in the 58th, 61st, 79th and 84th minute of the match. His tally was once punctuated by teammate and skipper Bal Gopal Maharjan’s strike in the 71st minute.

Towards the fag end Jawalkhel did rstore some lost parity as they hit back twice in the space of two minutes to finish the match at a score 8-3. With this defeat Jawalkhel finished at an impressive fourth position which could however all change tomorrow when Friends Club takes on Boys Sports Club. Friends Club needs to win the match to finish ahead of Jawalkhel.

Earlier Manang Marshyangdi celebrated their becoming the league champions by another crushing win as they blanked Naxal Yuwa Mandol 10-0.

Surprisingly, Naxal were successful in keeping rampaging Manang Marshyangdi at bay till the 39th minute. This was when Kumar Thapa put Manang Marshyangdi 1-0 up. But thenafter they had to contend with Basanta Thapa who went on a rampage scoring seven goals. Thapa scored twice before breather in the 42nd and 44th minute to make it 3-0 at half time. In the second half again he struck at regular intervals, in the 53rd, 56th, 58th, 78th and 89th minute.

However, Thapa narrowly missed becoming the top goal scorer in the league as he was beaten by Nirajan Rayamajhi who had 23 goals to Basanta Thapa’s 22 goals.
