Both ANFA teams in cup final

KATHMANDU, June 29 (PR) - ANFA Academy teams maintained their winning form to set the Saturday’s final all home affair in the ongoing inter-school football tournament.

The tournament being organised by the All Nepal Football Association to celebrate the 30th Birthday of Crown Prince Dipendra saw ANFA ‘A’ put off the challenge of Dipendra Police School by 2-0 while ANFA ‘B’beat Gyanodaya Bal Batika by a solitary goal in the semifinals at Dashrath stadium on Thursday.

Dipendra Police, putting on a spirited display held the formidable ANFA ‘A’from scoring in the first session. But their defense found wanting when the game resumed after the break and the marking too looked awful.

After wasting several of near chances, ANFA ‘A’ hit a double blow within three minutes between 66th and 70th. Prabin Manandhar opened the scoring with a low shot from close range and Bijay Gurung took away the match from Police outfit when he finished off the run after collecting a well measured pass from the middle.

The second match between ANFA ‘B’ and Gyanodaya produced a thrilling battle with nothing much to choose between them throughout.

Both the teams put off string of chances to stay 0-0 at the break. The second session followed much the same pattern until Gajendra Rana made all the difference with his 78th minute strike, which set up their clash with ANFA ‘A’ in the Saturday final.
