MPC to face Kailali in final

By a Post Reporter

KATHMANDU, March 6- Mahendra Police Club (MPC) continued their impressive run in the WFC Mangaladevi Women Football tournament as they hammered a thrashing 7-0 victory to New Danfe Club of Banke.

The match started disastrously for the Danfe girls from Banke as they conceded goals in a hurry to get four goals behind in the first twenty minutes of play. The Danfe girls who probably concentrated more on the police strikers of the likes of Pema Lama and Kiran Bajracharya were rattled by little known Sukra Rai and Ink Oli in the initial stage of the match.

It was Ink Oli who opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the match followed by Sukra Rai’s two goals in the 8th and 11th minute.

But Pema Lama could not be kept quiet for too long as she struck in the 20th and 38th minute of the match to give her side a decisive 5-0 lead.

The police onslaught did not end there as now it was the turn of other star striker Kiran Bajracharya to get into the act.

The Danfe girls finally heaved a sigh of relief when the referee blew the long whistle to indicate half time.

Everybody expected another dozen goals by the well drilled police side but the second half had something else in store.

The Danfe girls putting on a much enterprising performance surprised every spectator. They tried valiantly to get into the score books but the lack of clinical touch to convert chances into goals told heavily on them. Even after close to scoring on a numerous occasions the Danfe strikers failed to deliver the goods.

On the other hand, it seemed to be a day of double strikes as Kiran Bajracharya struck her second goal in the 62nd minute to give her side the seventh goal.

Today’s winner Mahendra Police Club will clash with Youth Sports Club of Kailali in the final on Wednesday.
