IA flight suspension
irrelevant
It is quite irrelevant stopping regular
Indian Airlines flights to Nepal, as the report submitted by the commission to study
security lapse at Tribhuvan International Airport has denied having any such shortcoming
as would be blamed as per international standard.
Also, there was no specific errors or
mistakes mentioned despite the fact that 15 duty officers had to lose their jobs following
the hijacking of Indian Airlines plane. There was no indication whatsoever that may hold
anyone guilty for supplying illegal weapons to hijackers and it was not revealed at all
from the Indian side as to what exactly were the threatening weapons that the
terrorists were carrying at the time the aircraft was hijacked.
I am of the opinion that there is no valid
rationale behind closing the regular flights to Kathmandu in the manner it has been done.
It has caused an immense damage on both the sides -- economically as well as in terms of
the bilateral relations between two sovereign neighbour countries.
