Cabinet meeting to review hasty
appointments
By a Post Reporter
KATHMANDU, March 26 -The cabinet meeting of the
new government Monday will review the hasty appointments made by its
predecessor before transferring power just few days back.
According to sources in the cabinet, the meeting
will review the decision made by former prime minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarais
cabinet to appoint two members to the National Planning Commission (NPC) and about three
dozen other appointments during its last meeting.
The meeting was held a day before Bhattarai
tendered his resignation following revolt in his Nepali Congress party against him. The
appointments were made in positions mostly in the Ministries of Agriculture, Industry and
Housing and Physical Planning.
Prakash Sharan Mahat and Minendra Rijal were
appointed as NPC members.
NPC Vice-chairman Prithviraj Ligal told The
Kathmandu Post that he had only verbally heard about the appointments. We have not
received any letter or written information from the cabinet in this regard, Ligal
said.
There are only five members in the NPC and none
of them have so far been removed to make space for the two new members.
