KC held Friends to a goalless draw

KATHMANDU, May 4- Kathmandu Club (KC) held a fancied Friends Club side to a goalless draw here today at the second day of the Martyrs Memorial League football championship.

The draw meant that Friends Club had to satisfied to share the points with Kathmandu Club.

Kathmandu Club’s custodian Narendra Shakya played a decisive part for the outcome of the match with many beautiful saves throughout the match.

Friends Club dominated the match early on as they had a number of opportunities right from the word go. But all these chances proved wasted as they looked over-confident going for the kill. Friends Club came closest to going ahead in the 40th minute of the first half when Naresh Thapa shot wide off a calculated cross from Sushil KC.

Kathmandu Club also had their moments in the second half as they made a couple of good moves. Once Sanjaya Lama shot wide off Kiran Lama’s pass while in another identical move it was Kiran Lama’s turn to waste Sanjaya Lama’s pass.

In the 30th minute, Rabin Byanjankar’s pile driver just missed the target for Friends Club denying them the much needed goal. Meanwhile, in the second match, Manang Marshyangi defeated Jawalkhel Youth Club 2-0 in a one sided affair to claim three points.

Basanta Gauchan struck in the 10th minute of the match to give his side 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later teammate Rajan Rayamajhi doubled the score. Bansbari Club will play with Boys Sports Club in tomorrow’s first match while Sankata will take on Boys Union Club in the second match.
