Bus knocks one man, eight oxen to death

BIRATNAGAR, May 6 - A bus travelling from Kathmandu to Jhapa (plate No Na.A. 1344) knocked down some men and thirteen animals. One man died and eight oxen were killed on the spot in the incident that occured on the highway at Kalyanpur VDC ward No 3 in the Saptari district on Friday morning, the Eastern Regional News Section said.

According to police, the bus killed Mohammad Gafar Miya of Gariya VDC-7 in the Rautahat district and the 8 oxen he was bringing from western side.

Similarly, three friends of the victim, Mophammad Kalama Miya, Mohammad Sheikh Shailun Miya and Mohammad Safid Miya, and three oxen have been severely injured. The three injured are undergoing treatment in B.P. Koirala Health Science Academy Dharan.

Bus driver Saila Ghale has been arrested along with the bus.

Police have informed that the people travelling in the bus are all safe.
