Bansbari Club crush Sankata Boys
Boys Sports, Boys Union lock in a draw

By a Post Reporter

KATHMANDU, May 8- A ten men Boys Sports Club for the most part of second half fought for a deserving 1-1 draw against Boys Union in the ongoing Martyrs Memorial League A Division Football Championship here today.

Both the sides looked evenly matched in the early stages of the game but as the match wore on it was the Boys Union side that looked more coordinated. Boys Union also got onto the early lead thanks to a breathtaking strike by its young striker Kumar Subba who struck a long ranger from well outside the D-box to beat the custodian for 1-0 lead. The early strike seemed to thrust more confidence into the Union Camp but they could not see their strikers add anything more to the tally.

Arjun Lama and Murari KC who had such a fantastic match against Sankata the other day were completely off colour today. This probably told on the performance of the Boys Union.

In the 27th minute, Boys Sports Club found the equaliser when Bijaya Subba netted from a free kick. He struck a curling drive towards the right corner of the box that proved good enough for the keeper.

The match also witnessed the players losing control and temper flaring as the referee had to constantly intervene to cool the players. On the other hand, there was also poor refereeing as Boys Union was denied of a certain spot kick in the second half but the referee failed to judge the foul played by Boys Sports Club defender.

Towards the later stages of the second half, the match could have gone either way, but the strikers from both the sides failed to take advantage of the opportunity. Once Murari KC’s beautiful cross was struck straight into the keeper while another occasion saw Arjun Lama’s powerful strike beautifully saved by the keeper.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Bansbari Club defeated Sankata Boys Sports Club 2-1 in an exciting match.

After a goalless first half, Bansbari got into the lead in the 55th minute of the match when Prjun Dahal struck the all important goal. Sankata came back strongly ten minutes later when Indraman Maharjan got them the lead.

But with barely a minute remaining Bharat Lama got the deciding goal to give Bansbari three valuable points.

This is Sankata’s second defeat from as many matches.

Naxal Yuwa Mandal will clash with NRT in tomorrow’s first match while RCT will lock horn against Three Star in the day’s second match.
