RCT thrash Kathmandu Club

By a Post Reporter

KATHMANDU, May 12- In a day of one sided matches, RCT thrashed Kathmandu Club 7-0, including a hat-trick from Nirajan Rayamajhi while Friends Club defeated Naxal Yuwa Mandal 4-0 in the matches played here today under the Martyrs Memorial National A Division League.

As the scoreline suggests, RCT dominated the match throughout and should have got into the lead as early as in the 4th minute of the play but Raj Kumar Shrestha missed out on the spot kick as his shot was well judged and saved by the opposition keeper Narendra Shakya. Despite a morale sagging scoreline, Shakya had a pretty satisfying day under the bar. He saved another penalty kick, this time taken by Ramesh Gyawali in the 23rd minute of the play. However, Bal Gopal Maharjan converted off the rebound to make it 2-0 as in the 13th minute Ramesh Gyawali himself had scored RCT’s first goal in a goalmouth milieu.

Gyawali was another player who had a fantastic match today as he paved way for RCT’s third goal converted by Nirajan Rayamajhi. A few minutes later, Rayamajhi himself converted his second goal to make it 4-0 before half time.

RCT domination continued in the second half as well. Bal Gopal scored his second and team’s fifth goal in the 20th minute of second half. But before this Aiata Singh Tamang had missed two glorious opportunities to score.

However, Aiata made amends for his earlier misses by producing a good pass to teammate Harihar Thapa who slipped in the ball to make it 6-0.

Towards the fag end, Nirajan scored his hat-trick when all he had to do was tap the ball after Aiata’s shot was rebounded from the keeper.

For Naxal the effort put on by Dinesh Thapa, Bal Gopal Shrestha and Nabindra Maharjan was really praiseworthy.

In the second match, Friends Club got into the lead in the 14th minute when Bill Tamang scored off a pass from Raj Kumar KC.

The second goal came in the 35th minute when Bill was brought down inside the D-box and Ramesh Byanjankar scored off the resultant penalty kick.

In the second half Bill Tamang made it 3-0 in the 17th minute when he calmly netted in an open post.

In the 34th minute Bill should have scored at least two goals, first his well connected header flew straight to the keeper while on the next occasion he was denied by the woodwork.

Towards the fag end Naxal’s Kamal Tamrakar committed a suicide goal when he shot straight into his post while trying to clear a Bimal Karki cross from the far right.

NRT takes on Bansbari in tomorrow’s first match while Three Star takes on Boys Sports Club in the day’s second match.
