Minors lament cancellation

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 9 - A non governmental organization run by minors today protested against the government’s recent move to cancel its registration.

At a review meeting held here today to review the activities of Bal Chetana Samuha (BCS), which was established five years ago, BCS executives said the move by the Kathmandu District Administration Office in 2056 B S to cancel the registration came as a surprise to them.

"By cancelling the registration of BCS, the government has discouraged us", said Tirtha Raj Rasayali, a BCS advisor and ex- member.

They alleged that the government violated Clause 15 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), of which Nepal is also a signatory. "The Clause guarantees the rights of children to fight for their rights, participate in community activities and establish organizations like CRC."
