Bear menace in Kalikot

Post Report

KALIKOT, Nov 12 - Four people of Gela and Odanak VDCs in Kalikot district were attacked in different locations and wounded seriously by three bears on Friday, villagers said.

The bears appeared in the fields of ward No 9 of Gela VDC and attacked a woman named Baudalya of the same ward while she was returning after grinding foodgrain in the mill.

When villagers came to know about the incident they rescued her from the grip of the bears.

As the bears were shooed away by the mob, they found another victim, Mipari Shahi, of the same VDC, cutting grass and badly wounded. Later on, the same bears wounded also two youths at ward No 1 of Odanak VDC, a resident of Odanak VDC Janak Singh said.

Two of the wounded are undergoing treatment at the local health centre while Maipura Shahi has been taken to a medical hall in the district headquarters for treatment. However, it has not been possible to provide medication to Baudalya because she is very poor. She is in a critical condition, Ratna Bahadur Shahi of Gela VDC-9 said.
