Jhapa lift girls' football tournament

KATHMANDU, Nov 12 (PR) - Jhapa lifted the first National Girls Football tournament here today as they defeated Morang in the final played at the ANFA grounds at Satdobato.

Jhapa scored two goals while Morang could not score any despite some good moves up front in the second half of the game. Kavita Gurung, No 10 from Jhapa scored in the first half and Aita Subba, the number 16 followed it up with a cross from the right flank in the dying minutes of the game shutting the doors for a Morang comeback.

In the match played previously today, Bhaktapur defeated Udaypur 2-0 to claim the third spot in the championship. For Bhaktapur, the scorers were Sujita Dhoju and Indu Duwal.

Dilendra Prasad Badu, Minister of State for Education and Sports, gave away the prizes to the participants of the tournament.
