School gymnastics Post Report KATHMANDU, Nov 15 - Graded English Medium School (GEMS) will revive the GEMS Gymnastic Championship, an inter-school gymnastic championship, after a gap of three years, according to the organizers. In a press release distributed at the press conference, the organizers said that the championship, fourth such championship by the school, will be held on 2nd and 3rd of December this year. The championship will have two events: Compulsory Floor Exercises and Optional Long Horse. The participants will be competing for the trophy in three groups among boys and a single groups among girls. The groups for the boys are: i) upto grade 5, ii) Grade 6-7 and iii) Grade 8-10. The championships expects a participation of 50 schools. Rajesh Khadka, Founder Director of GEMS and President of the organizing committee said that the championship is just a small effort towards saving and preserving the gymnastic discipline. Post Report BHAKTAPUR, NOV 15- Baba Boarding High School entered the semi-finals of the inter-school football tournament organized by Birendra Sainik at Bhaktapur today. Baba Boarding High School put off the challenge of Birendra Sainik A team winning the match comfortably as they slammed six goals next to nothing. Sushil Rai of Baba Boarding High School got the ha-trick while his friend Dipak Khadka helped in with two goals. In the other quarter-final matches , Galaxy beat Sagarmatha 1-0, Birendra Sainik B Team beat Padma High School 5-0 and Dipendra Prahari defeated Arunima 5-0. Baba Boarding will now take on Dipendra Prahari in the semi-final while the other semi-final will be between Galaxy and Birendra Sainik B. The semi-final matches will be played on Saturday. Post Report KATHMANDU, Nov 15 - Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) today lauded the ban imposed on the British mountaineer Henry B. Todd by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, according to an NMA press release issued here today. According to the press statement, Todd -- who was the leader of the H. G. Everest Expedition -- had manhandled and an American citizen Finn-Olaf Jones, a member of the expedition at the Everest base camp. Todd had been guilty of similar misconducts in his previous trips to Nepal and had received warnings. Todd has been banned to enter Nepal and engage in mountaineering till February 2002 under the Tourism Act 2035. Post Report KATHMANDU, Nov 15 - Galaxy Public College and Modern College won their matches comfortably today in the Inter-College cricket tournament played at the tundikhel organized by Simrik Sporting Youth Club. In the first match of the day, Galaxy Public school defeated Xavier Academy by four wickets. Xavier, electing to bat after winning the toss, scored 128 runs at the expense of 7 wickets in a 25 over match. The main scorers in the Xavier innings were Bardan Chalise at 27 runs and Pratik at 22 runs. Galaxy scored the required runs losing just six wickets in 20.4 overs. Their chief scorers were Abhishek and Rohit with 29 and 23 runs respectively both taking 18 balls in their cameo. In the second match of the day, Rehdon College was defeated by Modern College by six wickets. Rehdon, batting first, scored 102 runs for four wickets. Ashish Pant was their main hero with 47 unbeaten runs coming off 88 balls. Modern College requiring just above four runs an over reached the target in 16.3 overs also losing four wickets. Raman Shrestha, also man of the match scored 27 runs off 21 balls for the Modern. |
