Krishna and Naina pocket sub-junior titles
Post Report
KATHMANDU, Nov 19 - Krishna and Naina Karsoliya, brother and sister from
India, won the title for boys and girls respectively in the sub-junior singles category of
the third Carlsberg Open Tennis Tournament played at Satdobato of the capital today.
In the title clash of girls sub-junior today Naina Karsoliya defeated second
seeded Malika Rana 9-5 in a single setter. Rana, a player with sound technique, was found
lacking in the mental aspect of the game. She committed a lot of double faults and her
first serve success rate was minimal. Her second serve proved weak giving Naina a lot of
time to adjust for the shot. Karsoliya, who was more agile on court had less winners than
Rana though her serve kept her in place as she never lost a single serve.
Rana had reached the final defeating Laura Hunt of Australia while Naina
defeated top seed Vindiya Dayanand to reach the final.
In the boys sub-junior final played earlier, Krishna Karsoliya --one among
the top 10 ranked sub-juniors in India -- played with a lot of confidence to defeat Utsav
Rijal. Utsav reached the final after defeating Sulav Shah (9-3) earlier in the day.
Karsoliya had defeated Malcolm Mc Dougal 9-4 in the semi-final to advance through to the
final. Karsoliya also is playing in the mens singles category.
In the mens singles category of the championship, Krishna Karsoliya
advanced to the second round defeating Mahesh Shrestha 6-0, 6-3. Similarly, Wangyi bt
Dilio Karsoliya (6-2, 6-3), Andrew Hunt bt Rohit Sunwar (7-5, 1-6, 7-5), Chandra Shahi bt
Madhav Ghale (6-2, 6-1), Kamlesh Shukla bt Buddhi Hirachan (6-1, 6-1), M. B. Katuwal bt H.

Madhav Thapa (6-2, 6-4), Bishnu Man Shrestha bt Ramesh Rokka (walkover) and K. Adhikari bt
