KATHMANDU, Nov 20 - P Dayanand, Andrew Hunt, Jitendra Pariyar and Dawa Sonam have stormed into quarter-finals in the juniors category of the third Carlsberg Open Tennis Tournament organized by Gorkha Brewery and Nepal Lawn Tennis Association being played at Satdobato of the capital.

First seed P Dayanand easily defeated Om Shrestha 6-1, 6-0 while second seed Andrew Hunt beat Kamal Adhikari 6-3, 7-6. The third and fourth seeds Jitendra Pariyar and Dawa Sonam won their matches against Inderjit Kaur (6-1, 6-0) and Utsav Rijal (6-3, 6-3) respectively. Utsav Rijal was runner-up in the sub-junior category of the tournament. Sonam meets Krishna Karsoliya, winner of sub-junior title, in the quarter-final.

In the men’s doubles category the pair of Sonam and Pariyar advanced to the quarter-finals to clash with the top seeds C Shahi and R Thapa. The second seeded pair of K. Ghale and S. Gurung defeated S Thapa and G Singh 6-0, 6-0 and are set to fight M Thapa and M McDougal in the round of eight. Similarly, K Karsoliya and K Shukla have reached quarter-finals along with the pair of S Magar/B Hirachan (third seed) and S Sunuwal/R Shrestha. In the women’s doubles semi-final played today, the pair of M Schultz and S Osterby went to the final defeating Izumi M and E Watson.

In the Veteran’s Singles category, Manoj Rana, Gyanendra Tamrakar, Yamada Shah, Abdul Rehman, Madhukar Rana, Subarna Dhakhwa, Karma Gurung and Deepak Shrestha advanced to the quarter-finals.
