Call for disaster mitigation

KATHMANDU, Nov 21 - Every citizen need to be conscious and should have knowledge on disaster prevention, said the visiting Japanese state secretary today.

The state secretary for Ministry of Construction Kohei Tamura said Nepalis are fortunate to possess such stunning natural beauty but he warned that nature "goes on a rampage in the rainy season". He was speaking at an inaugural session on Community Disaster Mitigation organized at Department of Water Induced Disaster Prevention (DWIDP) on Tuesday.

Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Mitsuaki Kojima said Nepal is vulnerable to water-induced disaster because of its geo-physical condition.He said, " Japan also shares similar experiences even today, as a large part of Japan is covered with mountains and deep forests."
