Top seed out of Open

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 21 - Kaptan Karsoliya of India today ousted first seed Krishna Ghale from the men’s singles category of the third Carlsberg Open Tennis Tournament in the second round match played today at Satdobato Tennis complex.

Karsoliya defeated top seeded Ghale 6-3, 6-4 in a gruelling match which saw both players matching each other in skills. In the end Karsoliya, younger and more agile on the court, proved too much for the experience of Ghale.

Ghale did not show enough confidence in coming up to the net. On the other hand Karsoliya looked much more confident and did not lose a single point coming up front. One of the other weaknesses of Ghale proved to be his serve. He had three double faults compared to Karsoliya’s two. Karsoliya played with lot of aggression slamming four aces in the two set encounter.

First service break of the match came in the eighth game of the first set when Karsoliya broke Ghale taking away the set. Ghale came back well in the second set when he broke the Indian’s serve in the fourth game. However, he could not hold on to his serve and was broken by Karsoliya in the next game. Karsoliya broke Ghale’s serve again in the ninth game winning the match in two sets.
