Nepal Handloom Carpet wins Futsal tournament Post Report KATHMANDU, Nov 26 - Nepal Handloom Carpet, spurred by former national players, won the first five-a-side football tournament defeating British Gorkha 2-1 in a competitive match played today at the Jawalakhel football ground. For Nepal Handloom Rabindra Shrestha and Sangeet Rana scored one goal each. Ajit Rai was the only scorer for the British Gorkha in the match officiated by Binod KC, assistant referee of FIFA Y B Ghale, Man Bahadur Malla and Bhakta Raj Karnikar had representated Nepal Handloom Carpet. Rajendra Gurung of Gorkha Brewery was adjudged best player of the tournament while Sangeet Rana of Nepal Handloom was named the best player of the final. Goal scored by Rabindra Joshi of Nepal Handloom was adjudged the best goal of the championship which was participated by 27 teams from various organizations. ANFA president Ganesh Thapa and other officials gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up teams. Taekwondo guru wants to unify all forms of martial arts Post Report KATHMANDU, Nov 26- Gen. Choi Hong Hi, founding father of Taekwondo finished his four day visit to Nepal here today. He was here for the promotion of taekwondo. Addressing a press conference shortly before leaving he said that Nepalis have immense talent for taekwondo discipline and can do exceptiaonlly well in this sport. 82 years old, Gen. Choi, also the founding member of the World Black Belt Committee still sounded enterprising when he outlined his future strategy for unifying all forms of martial arts under one common banner. Also present on the press conference was Master Instructor, Phap Ken Lu of Canada who said that a kind of martial arts olympics will be held in South Korea in 2003 and they have to nominate martial arts experts to represent Nepal in the competition. Gen. Choi has spend two million US dollars on establishing a martial arts TV channel based in Los Angeles, USA. Gen. Choi is none other than the person who awarded the international martial arts icon, Chuck Norris with the prestigious Eight-Dan degree. |
