District level chess tourney concludes

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 3- The 3rd Bhaktapur District Level Running Shield Chess Championship concluded here yesterday.

Bhaktapur's Chess Club's Balram Napit came out first in the championship. He defeated Rabindra Kumar Shrestha of the same club in the final. The defeat meant that Shrestha finished second in the championship. The third place went to Mahakali Lhyama Puchcha's Purushottam Duwal.

Minister for Law and Justice Mahantta Thakur gave away the shield, medals and cash awards to the winners. Minister Thakur also gave away the prizes to the winners of the table tennis championship.

The prize distribution ceremony was addressed by Lawmaker Lekhnath Neupane, Ramdev Shrestha, Secretary of Nepal Chess Association, Ram Shrestha, Secretary of the  club, Kiran Khagi and Bhaktapur Sports Development Committee's coordinator Ukesh Kawa.

Meanwhile, in another chess championship organised by Dhapasi, Gongabu and Manmainju VDCs on the occasion of Jagaruk Yuwa Club's first anniversary, Manish Hamal of Manmainju stood first. Hamal defeated Dal Bahadur Nalbo of Everest Politek in the final to win the championship. The third place went to Satya Narayan Shretha of Jagruk Yuwa Club and Puspa Manandhar of Sachet Yuwa club.

State Minister for Water Resources Ram Bahadur Gurung will distribute the prizes to the winners in a ceremony tomorrow.
