BHAKTAPUR, Oct 10 (RSS) - A two-month training in plumbing conducted under the joint auspices of the Rural Development Society Nepal, Madhyapur Thimi and Skill Nepal concluded recently. Speaking at the concluding function, Raj Babu Shrestha, Executive Director of Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Fund Development Committee informed that the rural drinking water projects are currently being implemented at some 900 places in the various rural areas of the country and about 200 technicians are engaged in these projects. Madan Krishna Shrestha, Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi, Gopal Lama, Chief Trainer at Skill Nepal and Ratna Kaji Shrestha spoke about the necessity and importance of the skill development training. Altogether 20 persons from among the poor and oppressed communities took part in the training. Construction of micro hydro project over in Thorang Phedi Post Report Kathmandu, Oct 10 - The construction of Thorang Phedi micro hydro project, situated probably at the highest place of the world, has been recently completed with the investment of Rs 6 million, says a press statement received here today. The project with production capacity of 20 kilowatt is situated about 4300 meter above the sea level in Manang district, says the statement. The construction of the project, undertaken by Balaju Yantra Shala, was built with economic assistance from the government of New Zealand in participation of King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation and local people. The project, which is currently undergoing through trail production is believed to play a positive role in the promotion of local tourism development and in controlling environmental deterioration by limiting the use of firewood for the purpose of cooking. Cancellation of CSI license begins Post Report Bhadrapur, Oct 10 - Registration cancellation procedure of about forty-percent of the Cottage and Small Industries registered in the Jhapa district has been recently initiated by the district office. According to the information provided by the district office of CSI, out of total 4,561 industries registered up to the last fiscal year, the registration of 1,833 industries would be cancelled either due to failure to start operation on time or for not renewal of license. "Only 60 percent of the registered industries in Jhapa district are under operation. Out of the rest 40 percent did not operate even after obtaining liscense, whereas some other didnt renew their registration certificate as required by the law, " Laxmi Narayan Upreti, district officer at the CSI told The Kathmandu Post. Textile industries dominate the list of industries, whose certificate is to be cancelled. The local textile industries were forced to halt their production due to their inability in competing with the Indian textiles. |
