Alas! no medals

When even a small country like the Bahamas and the poorest country Ethiopia grabbed medals at the Sydney Olympics, our athletes and sports authorities have come up with the most innovative of excuses. These are only some of them. 'Such big events is not for winning but participating.  The competition was much too fierce for Nepal. We are not familiar with such atmosphere. So far, all our sports ministers (before and after democracy) have had nil qualification in sports'. The most important thing is that our sports council is very much politicized and nepotism is rampant in the day to day running.
