Nepal end AFC Under-16 campaign with no points By Rajendra Gyawali DANONG, Vietnam, Sept 9 - Nepal ended their AFC Asian Youth Under-16 trip without a point, going down 0-3 to Myanmar in their final league encouter here Saturday. Earlier, they suffered a 6-2 loss to China followed by 5-0 routing from Vietnam and 3-0 loss at the hands of the firm favourites Japan. That gave Nepal a disappointing figure of only two goals in their favour with 17 against them. With both the teams already out of hunt, the match meant a mere academic interest. The way Nepal played in the match simply suggested that they had hardly taken a leaf out of previous matches. They lacked team coordination and there was not enough fire-power to penetrate the opposition. On the other hand, Myanmar showing a better ball control and resilience forced the Nepalese onto their toes. And they went into lead as early in the opening minute itself. Nyan Lin Kyab's superbly executed free-kick found Anthony Ang Tung Neng, who guided the ball past the Nepalese keeper with a nice header. Although Nepalese managed to keep Myanmar calm for a while, they could not do anything about a deft right footer from Yan Nuang Soei. Soei, taking a through ball from Kyab Kyab Soei, hit the net with a powerful drive for a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time. At the start of second half, even as Nepal struggled to penetrate the opposition defence, Tung Neng headed home his second goal extended Myanmar an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 49th minute. It was another perfect example of team coordination. Yan Nuang Soei dropped an inch perfect flagkick towards Tung Neng and he outjumped the Nepalese defenders to force the ball home. Deepak Lama failed to finish off a half chance he received as early in fourth minutes while Nirajan Rayamajhi put out a clear goal in the 23rd minute from close range following a scramble. Nepal did have make couple of inroads towards the close only failing to make use out of it. The better of them came in the 86th minute, when Prabesh Katuwal released a nice pass to Ritesh Khadka. But Khadka's shot sailed over the crossbar. "We simply didn't play as we had planned for this competition," dejected Nepalese coach Stephen Constantine said after the match. "We repeated the same mistakes as in the previous games and paid penalty."
