Malekhu-Dhadingbesi road
very dangerous
By a Post Reporter
DHADING, Sept 12 - Malekhu-Dhadingbesi
sector of Kalu Pandey road which is under construction with the cooperation of German
Government is so dangerous that passengers heave a sigh of relief after they complete the
journey on this road.
Altogether 29 buses were allowed to ply on
this route since Bada Dashain and Tihar festivals of last year in view of the pressure of
passengers. The queue system had also been removed for the benefit of the passengers.
This system was not possible this year
because of bad condition of the road. Therefore, a high-level meeting was convened at the
office of Chief District Officer with the initiative of Dhading Transport Entrepreneurs'
Association.
Chairman of the association Raj Kumar
Shrestha told the meeting that the road was too slippery and risky because the soil and
boulders taken out while digging the drain were dumped on the road making it very narrow
and unfit for vehicles to ply on it.
Project in-charge Dilli Raman Niroula said
it was not the intention of the project staff to increase the suffering of the people.
They could not clean the road because it was raining continuously and added that they
would clear the road within three days after the rain stopped.
He added that they were working all through
the night to complete the bridge of Bungchung for the benefit of the people though they
were supposed to complete only 60 percent of the work by now as per schedule.
Project Manager of Amar Super Sherpa,
Krishna Gopal Shrestha and representative of Itiko Consultancy, Kabindra Pradhan said they
were ready to remove hindrances on the road and suggested the bus companies should not
keep the passengers on the roof of their buses.
MP Ram Nath Adhikari said passengers had to
travel from 3 to 4 hours to complete the journey on the 17.5 kilometre-road. He also
complained that the project vehicles engaged in road construction do not leave the road
for vehicles for hours hampering the emergency passengers. He also charged that buses of
the Transport Entrepreneurs' Association also do not allow other vehicles to pass them.
Other speakers of the programme also
underlined the need for removing obstacles on the road and ensuring smooth journey for the
passengers. The programme was presided over by chairman of the association Raj Kumar
Shrestha.
Construction of the Kalu Pandey road is
scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2001. Project in-charge Niroula told The
Kathmandu Post that they would complete the project works within the specified time.
