PM’s morality

Now, it has been more than one and half months since the opposition started to disrupt parliament, calling for the PM’s resignation for his alleged involvement in the Lauda Air scam. They want him to step down on grounds of morality.

The constitutional watchdog- Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) - had asked the PM to take necessary action against Minister Govinda Raj Joshi for exercising his powers wilfully in connection with the selection of school teachers in 2052/53 BS. Joshi would have resigned immediately, if he had any moral values. But with the PM’s backing he filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) against the CIAA and was able to get an interim-order not to proceed with any of the CIAA’s directives relating to the ‘Teacher Selection Controversy’. Now, Joshi calls upon the people to help the government and participate in development programs. This is really very tortuous for me, and maybe, for many others. Joshi and his coterie are shown on national TV, delivering rotten speeches.

Lastly, the opposition should allow the parliamentary proceedings to run smoothly. Let a better sense of multi-party democracy prevail among all politicians. Patience pays off. Just wait for the CIAA and SC to spell out their verdicts over the Lauda deal so that GP Koirala could be made to resign on legal grounds. If nothing works out, just wait for the next general elections. That’s democracy. And we ask the opposition not to walk in the bad footsteps of the ruling party.
