World Cup team leaves for Iraq

KATHMANDU, April 9 - A 23- member Nepali football team today left for Iraq to
participate in the Asian Group 6 World Cup qualifying matches starting later this month.
The contingent headed by Tashi Ghale as team leader consists of the following
players:
Goal keepers : Upendra Man Singh (captain), Sanjiv Joshi and
Ramesh Lama.
Defenders: Rakesh Shrestha, Sunil Tuladhar, Anil Subba,
Narottam Gautam, Anil Adhikari, Narayan Manandhar and Dev Narayan Chaudhari.
Midfielders: Prakash Thapamagar, Ramesh Gyawali, Ananta
Thapa, Bal Gopal Maharjan, Kumar Thapa, Sukra Tamang and Dipak Lama.
Fowards: Hari Khadka, Basanta Thapa, Rajan Rayamajhi,
Nirajan Rayamajhi, Dilli Ram and Ramesh Budathoki.
Nepal will be playing selection matches with Iraq, Kajaksthan and Macao.
Binod Shankar Palikhe, general secretary of Nepal Sports Council who was in
the airport to see off the players requested everyone to forget the past dispute and start
a new chapter in the national football arena.
