Biased write-up

No thanks for a biased write-up on the remarks made by the ambassadors of some western countries (Non-Leftist parties support West’s remarks- TKP April 16, 2001). We must understand firstly that it has been an old policy of the US to interfere in Nepal’s internal affairs, and carry out activities against China and India through Nepal. The military and financial support given by the US to the Khampas in the early 70s is an example of this. Therefore, their recent statement at a time when the leftist parties are protesting against the Koirala government does not surprise me.

What is most mysterious is the Foreign Ministry’s silence in this regard and the Chairman of the Institute of Foreign Affairs Mohan Lohani’s remark that it was a ‘statement of principle’. One can see the smoke of conspiracy of foreign powers trying to meddle in the internal affairs of a sovereign country like Nepal and the foreign ministry’s (because of Lohani’s statement) involvement in this. Would the concerned kindly answer?

Dr Rajendra Upadhya
