Rupandehi
beat Banke by four wickets

KATHMANDU, April 16 - With the help of
sensational not out 38 runs off just 32 balls by " Man of the Match" Basudev
Thapa, Rupandehi beat Banke by four wickets in the ongoing 17th Jay Trophy National
cricket tournament held at T.U. cricket ground Kirtipur today.
Winning the toss, Banke elected to bat first on
two days rain affected pitch to score 135 in 31 overs loosing all wickets. With the help
of Javed Siddiquis 46 off 66 balls, Imtiaz Siddiquis 17 and Anil
Shresthas not out 13, Banke posed a reasonable looking target, within reduced 31
overs because of previous days heavy rain.
In the bowling side, Ajaya Ramdan was the pick
of bowlers to claim three wickets in his 6.3-00-28-03 Durga Sen and Sanjeev Joshi also
claimed two wickets each and Rajkumar Manandhar and Sakti Gauchan shared one wickets to
each to limit the score of Banke.
In reply, Imran Khan of Banke forced Rupandehi
for a sluggish start claiming both the openers in his first spell but astoundingly not
introduced by Bankes captain for second spell, finish with 04-01-08-02. Thanks to
the third wicket partnership of 55 runs put by Sakti Gauchan 29 and Joseph Pradhan 34,
rest of the task done by Basudev 38 of 32 including 6 fours, before five over and four
balls to be bowled. Beside Imran Khan , Irfan Siddhiqui also claimed two wickets, rest of
the Bankes bowlers were not being so impressive.
Jhapa and Bara will be playing tomorrows
match from Group B. |
