Jhapa surrender against Bara

KATHMANDU, April 17- Jhapa surrendered in front of Bara’s precise bowling attack and loss the game by 46 runs despite bowling out Bara on mere 102 in the ongoing Jay Trophy National Cricket Tournament held at Tribhuvan University cricket ground today.

Bara’s captain’s decision of batting first looked ordinary for four over reduced match, as Jhapa’s leg spinner Sabip Poudel clinched two vital wickets finishing with 06-00-28-02. Nodan Chhetri removed Krishana Gauchan of Bara who played superbly hitting three 4s to top the score 29 from Bara’s side. Sudersan Maharjan damaged Bara’s middle orders including the wicket of danger looking Bara’s captain Pawan Agrawal, finishing with 04-00-13-02 on the average of 3.25 runs per over.

Attacking from both ends Bharat Thapalia 04-00-18-03 and Nodan Kchhetri 7.0-00-29-03 sent Bara’s tale-handers back to
the pavilion to limit the team 102 all out. Beside Krishana, Binod Das, the number seven player of Bara made 22 runs off 31 balls.

In reply chasing a low scoring target Jhapa started disastrously losing their five top order batsmen within 40 runs before lunch. Jhapa’s captain Rajan Bhattrai scored 13 runs off 36 balls and the all rounder Sudersan Maharjan who chipped in 16 runs off 26 balls tried to fight against all-perfect bowling attack of Bara but rest of the batsmen didn’t even reach double figure and the whole team was packed on mere 56 runs facing 24 overs.

Bowling department of Bara was exceptionally well, the captain only introduced four bowlers. Binod Das 07-01-12-02, Abhaya Sharma 07-01-18-02 and Pawan Agrawal 05-00-13-02 claimed two wickets to each.

Man of the Match, Rupesh Upreti who contributed 10 runs from bat bowled very tight spells conceding only 09 runs from 5 overs swiped three batsmen of Jhapa. The entire play was bowler dominated in which 20 wickets of both side fell within 50.3 overs.
