Security beefed up in Jhapa

Post Report

BHADRAPUR, April 20- The newly transferred Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at the Regional Police Unit Office at Jhapa, Ramesh Shrestha, has informed that various initiative measures have been taken in four districts of the Mechi zone, particularly in Jhapa, to strengthen the security apparatus in view of the deteriorating law and order situation.

The police chief of the Mechi zone made these remarks in a meeting with various political leaders, representatives of commercial organisations, transport entrepreneurs, intellectuals, local representatives and journalists at Bhadrapur, Thursday evening.

The interaction held relevance in the context of serious security concerns in Jhapa, particularly after the plunder of about Rs 9 million from the Ghailadubba branch of the Rashtriya Banijya Bank and the seizure of revolvers from the security guards at another bank in Sanischare by Maoist insurgents.

SSP Shrestha also sought co-operation of all concerned to ensure safety and security, during the occasion. Meanwhile, the Ghailadubba branch of RBB has been transferred to Chandragadhi due to security reasons.
