Nonsensical
pledges
It is about the shameful attitudes and
activities demonstrated by the so-called leaders of both the ruling and opposition
parties, leading the country to chaos and confusion. The present state of affairs show the
true faces of these leaders. They make nonsensical pledges and plead with the unsuspecting
people to support their programs and vote for them during elections. They use all
available means to outmanoeuvre each other. However, no sooner do they become lawmakers
than they forget their duties and obligations to the nation and the people. At the very
first opportunity that comes their way, they begin to misuse their positions and resort to
illegal means to amass personal wealth and power. It is these politicians, who in the name
of democracy, have taken the nation and its people hostage. They are sucking the nation
dry.
Twelve years is a long period to taste the
fruits of any system. Democracy, which was supposed to be sweet, as promised, turned out
to be very sour for the people of this peace-loving nation. People have lost faith, and
the future of the system is in danger. But do they actually care? And what steps are they
taking, if at all, to safeguard it?
Unless both the ruling and opposition parties
reach a consensus and work for the good of the nation and its people, we are certain to
lose our countrys sovereignty.
