Maintain secular tone

This is in response to Ritesh Shrestha’s article entitled ‘Mission Christian’ dated July 29, 2001, TKP. Religion is purely a matter of personal belief. No religion in this world stands perfect when subjected to logical reasoning. But Shrestha, who opted to write on racial and sectarian line, either have not understood this fact or does not want to understand at all. This is nothing but fanaticism. To openly describe a religion as ‘second class’ only shows hatred and intolerance bottled up inside him. A sense of tolerance that an author of his stature is expected to demonstrate is lacking.

He uses some terms like infinite dollars, suited booted, etc to portray Christianity as a religion of material well- being rather than spiritual well being. Granted some people might have tried material inducement to make conversion either because of misinterpretation of the Bible or some dogmas, however to see all in the same light is outrageous.

I believe an author who writes on religion should maintain secular and impartial tone throughout his/her write-up(s). Everyone will appreciate such writings, I believe.
