Govt, Maoist move hailed

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Aug 4 - Different organisations related to the nationalities today welcomed the government’s move to resolve the six-year-old insurrection by the underground Maoist rebels.

Issuing a joint press statement, organisations related to the nationalities said that it is indeed a laudable move by the Government and the Maoists to create a conducive environment for the dialogue.

However, the release also said that government should not only be focused on the dialogue as there are many other problems in the country that needs immediate solution.

"Even though the Constitution says that Nepal is a multi-ethnic country, ethnic groups are not treated accordingly," reads the release.

They have also demanded the government and lawmakers to mull over the bill on the language forwarded by Nepal Tamang Ghedung and Newa Rastriya Andolan.
