Doomed airline

Royal Nepal Airlines (RNA) is the bane of any travelling passenger. With delays and cancellations on almost every flight, it is a miracle that the airline has survived so far. If you can find even one passenger to say something good about airline, then I stand corrected.

It is a mockery of their advertisement which states: "Royal Nepal Airlines brings service with courtesy and grace instilled over centuries of tradition. For us taking care of you is a sacred duty". Courtesy is a word alien to their behaviour. I think every customer service person at RNA should be given a class on hospitality, courtesy and manners, the very words used in their ad. An uneducated vegetable vendor is more courteous and well mannered. A lady with two children was refused water at the airline counter, and the passengers had been waiting for two hours for their flight without any information as to when the flight would take off. Even the children were not spared, let alone adults.

Last week the flight to Japan was cancelled. The flight to Delhi on the 7th was delayed by 11 hours. All flights on the 7th was delayed by at least 5 hours. The arrival of the flight on the 10th from Delhi was delayed by 2 hours. I had called the airport information service at 470311 and was told the aircraft would arrive at 12 noon; the monitor at the airport when I reached there also had the same information on the screen. The flight finally arrived at 1:20 pm. An information service must provide what people want to know, who take the trouble to call the service, about delays and cancellations. If they do not give the right information, then who will?

I have read the RNAC is in financial trouble and is cancelling its flights to Europe and Singapore, stating they do not have good capacity on these routes. The other international airlines don’t seem to be having this trouble. Knock! Knock! Now do you realize why? Timely operation and service with a smile do make a difference.
