Elite’s Blue trample Holyland

KATHMANDU, Aug 13 (PR) - Hat-tricks from Prabin Manandhar and Mansayan Shrestha enabled Elite’s Co-ed (Blue) thrash Holyland International School 10-0 to register a place in the last four in the Inter-school ANFA Youth Cup Football Championship on Monday.

Elite’s boys dominated the proceedings right from the blow of the whistle and they did not have to wait too long to find the net. In the 10th minute Pralaya Bhandari dented the Holyland defence to put his side 1-0 ahead. The goal unsettled the Holyland boys, inviting the opposition strikers for more goals.

Pravin Manandhar, making merry of the loose Holyland marking, completed his hat-trick in the first half of the game itself. He doubled the Elite’s lead in the 14th minute and went on to find the Holyland net in the 24th and 38th minutes respectively. Elite’s supremacy was further exemplified by goals from Subash Lama and Gaurav Thapa, taking their side into the half time with a convincing 6-0 lead.

The problem was far from over for the Holyland team as Elite’s maintained their attacking waves in the second half. And they moved 7-0 up in the 58th minute through the goal of Mansayan Shrestha. Shrestha, unmarked for most part of the game, made the best use of the liberty he enjoyed in the match to complete his hat-trick firing two more goals in the 76th and 81st minutes respectively. Any attempts that Holyland boys made in the second half failed to pay dividend as they were kept at bay by their much superior opposition that is crowded with trainees from the ANFA youth academy.
