Kamal Thapa, Deepak Shrestha into semifinals

KATHMANDU, Aug 26 -The duo of Kamal Thapa and Deepak Shrestha defeated Fabian
Sada and Amar Budhamagar 6-1, 62 in the quarter-finals of the Veteran’s doubles match
in the Hyatt Autumn Tennis Tournament 2001 held on Sunday.
In the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles matches, the pair of P.
Dayananda and Sanu Gurung defeated Shreyans Karki and S. Bhusan 6-4, 6-3 . In other
quarter-finals, Subharatna Shahi and Krishna Ghale beat P. Lama and N. Shrestha 6-1, 6-0
to meet Karki and Bhusan in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Likewise, in the pre-quarterfinals matches of the men’s doubles, H.
Singh and S. Shrestha defeated A . Mitchel and R. Sunuwar 7-6, 6-3 in a closely fought
match. B. Shrestha and K. Bhandari easily defeated C. Ranjit and A. Shrestha 6-1, 6-1 in
straight sets to move on to the next round of the tournament.

from B. Kayastha and Krishna Raj Ghale beat J. Pariyar 6-2, 6-0.
Women’s Singles—Malaika Rana beat C.Febrey 6-1,
6-2, Cathy Hunt beat Nabina Gurung 6-0, 6-0, Vindya Dayananda beat L. Hunt 6-1, 6-2, E.
Nott got a walkover as Yasmin Gurung retired hurt due to knee injury, E. Nott beat L. Hunt
6-1, 6-2 and V. Dayananda got an walk over from Y. Gurung.
Veteran’s Singles—Mustafa Saihea beat David Bruce
6-3, 6-1, Karma Gurung beat Sonam Lama 6-3, 6-1, Deepak Shrestha beat Tishi Ghale 6-4,
6-3, C. Dhondup received a walkover from C. Aschroft and Abdul Rehaman beat C.L. Gurung
6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
