Better learn from us

This refers to news story titled "Nepal does not need foreign troops: PM Deuba" dated December 5, 2001, TKP.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba categorically ruled out inviting Indian troops to Nepal to fight the Maoists. Former Prime Minister Kirti Nidhi Bista ordered Indians to remove their troops from Nepali territory two decades ago. Indians still think that Nepal needs Indian troops to guard its border, besides fighting the Maoist terrorists. This is a good thinking and it is not unexpected as long as Indian troops continue to occupy Kalapani. However, Indians have not realised yet that India was defended by Gurkha troops right from the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny to 1947. Many more millions of Indians and Pakistanis would have been killed during the partition, had Gurkha troops allowed the situation to deteriorate. Unfortunately, many Indians still undermine the three hundred old Gurkha troops raised by the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah. Indian troops should better start taking lessons from Nepali troops to fight terrorists in Kashmir and Northeast India instead of making useless comments. And what is foolish is that any country, which has failed to contain terrorism, that too in fifty years time, makes a comment that can fight terrorism in other countries. Please, wait and watch how Nepali troops fight terrorists.
