Intrepid Aussies on adventure ride Post Report KATHMANDU, Dec 28 A group of 21 Australian motorcycle enthusiasts, including several ladies, will arrive in the capital Saturday for a string of adventurous activities in the country, the Australian Embassy said in its press release issued on Friday. According to the release, Sydney-based tour operator Ferris Wheels Motorcycle Safaris will bring the riders, all mounted on classic 500cc Enfield motorcycles, for New Years Eve celebrations. The group is riding across Nepal, from the eastern border to the west. The group upon their arrival in the capital will indulge in a scenic joyflight to Mt. Everest and participate in the worlds highest bungee jump at the Last Resort over the Bhote Koshi river. "Australians have been staunch advocates of Nepal as an exciting tourist destination," the release quoted group leader Mike Ferris as saying. "And this is our way of showing that we still feel that way, despite the recent tragedies both inside and outside Nepal." It was also stated that the group will be welcomed on their arrival at an informal function at the Australian Embassy. Yeti Airlines bring down high flying BCC Post Report KATHMANDU, Dec 28 Yeti Airways kept their title hopes alive with a crushing 5-wicket win over Baneshwor Cricket Club (BCC) in the second quarter-final of the 3rd East West BDM Open cricket tournament played at Tundikhel on Friday. It was a crushing blow for the Baneshwor Cricket Club as the team was riding on the crest with a thumping 107-run win over British Gorkha Cricket Club en route to the quarters. However, Ritesh Baral of Baneshwor, later
declared man of the match, had a good match Apart from a useful contribution from Baral, Shreekhanda Dhungana scored 28 unbeaten runs from 47 balls with four boundaries. Baral, on the other hand, had a breezy stay at the crease belting three boundaries and a six in a 32-ball essay. Apart from these two batsmen no other batsman reached a double figure. Strangely, the highest contributor to the Baneshwor innings was extras. The Yeti bowlers gave away a total of 29 extras. For Yeti Airways, Amit Jaiswal was the most successful bowler with a three-wicket haul. His 4.2-over spell cost him 10 runs. Pramod Rai and Raj Kumar Pradhan took two wickets each. Chasing just over three-runs-an-over, star-studded Yeti Airways won the match with five wickets to spare in the 21st over. Dipendra Chaudhary scored briskly to get to 39 in 33 balls. He shot eight boundaries in his innings. Jaiswal, who earlier showed his mettle with the red cherry, scored 27 runs off 31 balls. His innings had six fours. For Baneshwor, besides Baral, Sudhir Sharma took a wicket. Mahavir Cricket Club will take on Sarlahi Cricket Club in the third quarter-final on Saturday. |
