Intrepid Aussies on adventure ride

Post Report

KATHMANDU, Dec 28 – A group of 21 Australian motorcycle enthusiasts, including several ladies, will arrive in the capital Saturday for a string of adventurous activities in the country, the Australian Embassy said in its press release issued on Friday.

According to the release, Sydney-based tour operator Ferris Wheels Motorcycle Safaris will bring the riders, all mounted on classic 500cc Enfield motorcycles, for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The group is riding across Nepal, from the eastern border to the west. The group upon their arrival in the capital will indulge in a scenic joyflight to Mt. Everest and participate in the world’s highest bungee jump at the Last Resort over the Bhote Koshi river.

"Australians have been staunch advocates of Nepal as an exciting tourist destination," the release quoted group leader Mike Ferris as saying. "And this is our way of showing that we still feel that way, despite the recent tragedies both inside and outside Nepal."

It was also stated that the group will be welcomed on their arrival at an informal function at the Australian Embassy.
