Nepal fails to qualify for WC Karate

KATHMANDU, Feb 4 - Nepali Karate players can not play in the World Cup Karate to be held this June in Budapest, Hungary. Nepali players are barred from playing in the championship as Nepal failed to bag a single gold medal in the 9th Asian Karate Championship played in Calcutta, India.

The championship was dominated by the Kazakhstan players as they succeeded to top four of the five weight categories. The remaining top position was bagged by hosts India.

Sujan Kafle got the best position for Nepal as he stood second in the heavyweight category. Vinita Phuyal and Anisha Lama stood third in their respective weight class as Prabhakar Bikram Shah also stood third in the Middle weight category. None of the other Nepali participants could perform any better in the championship.
