BHAKTAPUR, Feb 24 - Subarna Sapkota of
Lalitpur knocked out Kedar Tui Tui of Bhaktapur to snatch gold in the 71 kg weight class
in the final bout of the First Inter-City Martyr Memorial Boxing Championship. Santosh
Koirala and Sunil Gurung of Butwal went home as bronze medallists.
SAF gold medallist, Ram Chandra Thapa Magar
of Lalitpur won the gold after Referee Stopped the Contest (RSC) terming Birendra Singh of
Nepalgunj outclass in the 60 kg class. The braonze medalists of this weight
category were Thaneswor Sapkota of Ratna Nagar and Rajan Awale of Bhaktapur.
Rajan Dangol, silver medallist in the SAF
games, snatched the gold from his opponent Subash Subedi after the Referee Stopped the
Contest. Nav Raj K.C of Bharatpur and Suk Bahadur Thapa of Tulsipur took bronze.
The bout between Dipesh Hada and Shyam
Chaudhari in 91 kg, turned out to be the most sensational match to entertain the cheering
crowd. But Thapa proved to be technically strong to snatch the gold from Chaudhari.
Bhuban Singh K.C of Mahendra Nagar beat
Mohamad Amaudin of Hetauda to claim the gold in the 45 kg weight catagory. The bronze went
to Laxmi Prajapati of Bhaktapur and Bikash Malla of Bharatpur.
Gyanendra Shah of Dang bagged gold defeating
Sudarshan Budathoki of Thimi in the 48 kg weight category. Bal Bahadur Khatri of Birendra
Nagar and Krishna Tamakhu of Bhaktapur were awarded bronze in this weight catagory.
In the 51 kg weight category, Ramesh Shrestha
of Kathmandu defeated Shiva Krishna Karmacharya of Bhaktapur in the finals of the
tournament. Anil Prasad Baniya of Hetauda and Krishna Nepali of Birgunj got bronze.
Tej Bahadur Thapa Magar of Kathmandu grabbed
the gold medal defeating Punya Ram Rajlawat of Bhaktapur in the 54 kg weight category.
Binod Kunwar of Lalitpur and Chandra Bahadur Rana of Butwal had to be satisfied with
bronze medals.
In the 57 kg bout, Tulsi Ram Deshemaru of
Bhaktapur took the gold defeating his opponent Tirtha Maharjan of Lalitpur. Bhupendra
Bakhunche of Bhaktapur and Ganga Bahadur Thapa of Butwal were awarded bronze medals.
Kumar Adhikari of Kathmandu defeated his
opponent Rajendra Shrestha of Bhaktapur to win the gold medal in the 63.5 kg weight class.
Sushil Ghimire of Hetuada and Rajendra Nagarkoti of Lalitpur were the bronze medallists.
In the 67 kg weight category, Ram Krishna Prajapati of Bhaktapur grabbed gold defeating
his opponent Arjun Tamang of Kirtipur. Ram Baniya of Birgunj and Rajesh Shrestha of
Lalitpur got the bronze.
