Mature politicians

I would like to thank Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Dilliraman Regmi for expressing their best wishes to the Christian community in Nepal (TKP, Dec 25, 2000).

It is indeed a sign of maturity for politician, like Mr Nepal, to acknowledge that Nepal is like a garden with many flowers (different faiths, cultures, and languages), not with just one or two flowers.

I appreciate Dr Dilliraman Regmi for acknowledging in his spiritual quest that the message of the birth of Jesus Christ is not reserved just for the Christians alone but as "peace on earth and goodwill toward all the people" regardless of race, nationalities, class or creed according to the Christian scripture.

The Kathmandu Post also should get the similar credit for the picture that made us feel the presence of Christian communities in Nepal. In the future, I hope you will have pictures of other Church communities too.

Laudable decision

I would like to extend my hearty congratulations to the Kantipur Publications for the recent decision of publishing Kantipur from Biratnagar which I think is bridging a gap between the capital city and the rest of the kingdom. This, I personally feel, is filling a great lacuna deemed indispensable since a long time. I hope and wish that The Kathmandu Post too will resume the same type of service in the near future.

The right to inform and the right to be informed and the editorial messages and the impartial view points are the assets that your publications are worthy to be mentioned. I am sure the example set by you in the field of journalism will definitely serve as a milestone in the democratic exercise the power and the people, the needed awareness and the duty of the people to the nation. Perhaps the leaders will set example of being disciplined as I have learnt since my childhood that "Discipline comes from above."
