Nepal blames PM for Lauda deal

RAJBIRAJ, Jan 26 (PR)- The General Secretary of CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal today demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, blaming him for numerous cases of financial embezzlement.

Nepal made this remark while addressing a mass gathering at Pato Bazar, after inaugurating the construction works of the Sewa Path (community road) which kicked off today at the initiative of the UML-affiliated All Nepal Peasants Association, Saptari.

The opposition leader accused the P M of being directly involved in the recent Lauda Air scam. He charged the Koirala government of swindling amount of almost ten million rupees every month. Referring to the resignation of Tarini Dutta Chataut as Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, Nepal said that mere quitting the post was not enough. "He should be handcuffed and imprisoned at the earliest," he said.

The UML leader, however, commended the CIAA for suspending Haribhakta Shreshtha as the RNAC Chief. "This is the only praise-worthy decision taken by the anti-corruption watch dog over a number of years," he added.
