Parties condole quake victims

KATHMANDU, Jan 28 – Various political parties and organisations have extended their profound sorrow and condolences over the devastation and gross loss of lives by the Friday’s earthquake in Gujarat and other Indian states.

The main opposition CPN-UML today sent a letter of condolence to Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee expressing the party’s deep sorrow over the loss. "All the Nepali people, in this grave situation, would like to extend their sympathies and solidarity to the government and the people of India," said the letter, which was faxed here today.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), issuing a press release, expressed its deep sorrow over the loss. "The deadly incident has shocked us," the release said.

In a separate press releases issued by CPN-ML and CPN-United, they also have expressed their deep sorrow over the deadly devastation.

Meanwhile, Global Organisation of People of India – Nepal has sent a letter to the Indian PM Bajpayee expressing their deep pain and distress over the extensive damage. "The Indian community here in Nepal is planning to send some relief materials soon for our brothers and sisters in the disaster affected areas," said the faxed letter.
