Encephalitis claims six, affects many

NEPALGUNJ, July 22- At least six people have died while 18 others seriously affected and hospitalized after the Japanese Encephalitis dazzled the Terai region during rainy season in the recent days.

According to Bheri Zonal Hospital, the victims of Japanese Encephalitis started to come in hospital from the month of Baisakh till this month. The victims who have died because of this disease are Sitapali Chaudhary and Jaki Kumari Khadka of Dang, Anpus Chaudhary, Priya Tharu, Subarna Chaudhary and Pooja Burma of Bardia.

A total of 35 victims are reported to have been admitted at Bheri Zonal hospital out of which 18 have been hospitalized on this Sunday and Monday alone. Among these Sitapali Chaudhari of Sonpur-2, Dang is reported dead.

Last year, 425 victims of Japanese Encephalitis were hospitalized at Bheri Zonal hospital out of which 72 have died. District Health Office has initiated vaccination against this disease.
